Our committees are established annually and are comprised of mental health advocates, professionals, family members, and individuals with special skills to help work towards our goals together.

Access Committee

the access committee's focus is to ensure the community has the best access possible to behavioral health resources within our community, enhancing it as needed.

Goals for 2022:

  • Build a collective capacity of MHC workforce to be trauma-informed and responsive to all who seek services, either through phone calls, or in office settings
  • Provide opportunities for networking and partnership building between agencies to promote access to services
  • Encourage utilization of Tarrant Cares

Advocacy Committee

the advocacy committee's focus is to monitor and influence legislative issues and priorities in support of an improved behavioral healthcare system for the people of Tarrant County.

Chairpersons: Jennifer Gilley | Susan Garnett

Goals for 2022:

  • Monitor and influence legislative issues and priorities in support of an improved behavioral and substance-use service system for Tarrant County
  • Keep membership posted on session legislation updates and outcomes

Communications Committee

the communications committee's focus is to connect and coordinate information across various communication platforms with the MHC and find new ways to communicate and serve members and initiatives, while leveraging knowledge-share across the community.

Chairpersons: Victoria San Martin | Rane Wallace

Goals for 2022:

  • Monitor, and advise MHC communication efforts
  • Coordinate across committees and partner agencies on ways to connect, coordinate, share stories, news, and information to our members and the public
  • Create systems and processes to streamline communication efforts and improve collaboration

Cultural Connection Committee

the cultural connection committee's focus is to determine strategic, immediate, and long-term goals to maintain and improve cultural and linguistic competency among partners and services provided.

Chairpersons: Estrella Griggs

Goals for 2022:

  • Identify and address cultural and linguistic barriers to effective care
  • Develop short- and long-term strategies for CLC initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with other MHC initiatives
  • Expand the CBMCS Training Team

Engagement Committee

the engagement committee's focus is to improve communications and networking among and between mhc member agencies, key stakeholders, and our community.

Chairpersons: Di Ann Rucker

Goals for 2022:

  • Plan monthly MHC membership meeting agenda and activities to be responsive to needs of partnership agencies
  • Create opportunities for networking, educating members on MHC’s efforts
  • Coordinate logistics with monthly presenters:
    • Develop annual calendar of presenters, allowing for flexibility when needed
    • Review mental health calendar to determine how it may impact meetings
  • Organize holiday events
  • Greet and welcome new members

Grants Committee

the grants committee's focus is to collaboratively identify and research funding opportunities in support of an improved behavioral healthcare system.

Recognize & Rise Steering Committee

the recognize & rise steering committee's focus is to align, strategize, and plan events for our Recognize & Rise initiative; support those who have experienced the impact of trauma, toxic stress, and adversity; and rise together with support and resources.

Chairpersons: Sonya Mosley | Nathan Howell

Goals for 2022:

  • Develop and coordinate efforts to educate and engage community on trauma, adversity, and resilience
  • Increase interfacing between MHC members and Recognize & Rise initiative

School Mental Health Committee

the school mental health committee's focus is to bring together diverse groups of school staff, medical, and MH/SU providers to discuss how to best address the mental health needs of Tarrant County students.

Chairpersons: Michelle Broadwater | Tracy Koller

Goals for 2022:

  • Discuss suicide prevention strategies, to include communicating safety and discharge planning with schools
  • Develop community partnerships that meet the needs of campus’ violence prevention and treatment for aggressive students
  • Discuss how agencies and schools can overcome barriers and engage families
  • Coordinate best practices for screening and referring students
  • Ensure that trauma-informed practices are infused throughout all efforts

Tarrant Cares Governance Committee

the tarrant cares governance committee's focus is to provide oversight to Tarrant County's network of care website.

Chairpersons: Natalie Rose | Lenee Bassham

Goals for 2022:

  • Provide oversight of Tarrant County’s network of care website
  • Recommend policies for enhancing, managing, and maintaining the site
  • Coordinate implementation of ACES Task Force Texting initiative

TBRI collaborative committee

the TBRI (trust-based relational intervention) collaborative committee's focus is to coordinate and facilitate the TBRI collaboration throughout the community and with TCU's Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development.

Chairpersons: Cynthia Bethany | Deborah Caddy | Lisa Farmer

Goals for 2022:

  • Coordinate the community TBRI Training Team with our MHC member agencies
  • Support community collaboration of TBRI strategies and resources
  • Collaborate with TCU’s Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development with coaching and support sessions
  • Coordinate sustainability efforts
